Elevators in Building 9
This project involved modernizing two passenger traction elevators in two separate hoistways, for a total of four elevators in Building 9 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda MD. The Scope of work included the demolition of elevator landings / lobbies and existing Fan Coil Units and the installation of mini split, HVAC units, in mechanical rooms to maintain cooling/heating levels for elevator controllers and equipment. This project also involved installation of two new sump pumps along with the required piping and associated set lines, ductwork modifications, and installation of fire and motorized dampers. In addition, new thermostats and control wiring were installed.
Upon completion these new elevators will support the hospital staff at WRNMMC.
Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall – Chiller Repair and Replacement
SDC was responsible for design, acquisition, and replacement of three new chillers which provide cooling for thermal comfort of buildings 241 and 242, at Fort Myer, VA. Two 160-ton and one 60-ton air cooled chillers with low ambient operation were installed along with all associated piping, automatic feed system tank piping and isolation valves. Chillers were calibrated and inspected before being brought online.
