Facilities Maintenance Technician – Northern and Mid-Atlantic

Job Category: Non-Exempt/Hourly (Full or Part Time)
Job Location: SDC Columbia, MD Office: Serving the Northern & Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States and surrounding areas
Pay Range: Negotiated based on experience

Job Summary: Performs a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance of properties and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. Provides support with identifying, assessment, inventorying and tagging of client real property and other general maintenance tasks associated with SDC’s Facilities Division contracts in and around the US Northern and Mid-Atlantic regions and also support overall Division growth, including support to other projects/programs nationwide.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:

  • Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, and as needed equipment repair or replacement.
  • Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.
  • Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
  • Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
  • Supports the procurement and manages/controls inventory supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
  • Assembles and moves furniture, hangs pictures and bulletin boards, makes name plates, moves and sets up tables and chairs.
  • Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.
  • Paints interior and exterior walls.
General Superintendent – Construction – Northern & Mid-Atlantic

Pay Range: Negotiated based on experience

Job Summary: General Superintendent is responsible for the overall field oversight on a large project, leading a team of construction professionals and trade contractors to ensure that company policies and procedures are met in regard to safety, scheduling, budget, quality and customer satisfaction.

Typical Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Ensure that the day-to-day coordination of SDC’s trade contractors and their sub-contractors turn out high-quality work that meets the approved project schedule
  • Manage the project budget for general conditions and site services
  • Develop, document and communicate the work plan regarding changes made in the field
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to be able to plan ahead and anticipate potential problems before they arise
  • Obtain or verify that the subcontractors obtain all necessary permits for construction purposes
  • Verify safety compliance with all trades;  act as primary safety representative in the field and enforce quality control policies
  • Conduct maintenance and planning of “work-arounds,” shutdowns and tie-ins
  • Establish credibility among Owners, trade contractors, unions etc. by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment
  • Lead contractor meetings on a regular basis
  • Create, manage and update the project schedule, create and implement contingency plans when necessary
  • Communicate schedule status, updates and changes to Project Team and  Trade Contractors
  • Plan, coordinate and manage jobsite logistics
  • Oversee project quality plan and  implement necessary changes
